well done to mike flanagan who won ollie,s captains prize and also shoots him up to the top of the golfer of the year leaderboard...held in cregmore golf club just outside galway city..playing off the blue markers it was a serious test of golf for us good golfers...a great turn out, considering half of the members were in kentucky and away on a stagg night..well done to deirdre, sorry [ollie ]for having such class prizes for the winners...the pressure is on for next years captain..

HOLE IN 1

mount temple golf club was the venue.on the first hole ,a par 3 , second group to t off, in front of a large gallery, simon lowry with a 4wood into the breeze,hits it sweet,seconds later its in the hole... there was loads of high fives,fist pumping[like chris de marco] and cheering...5 points after hole 1 ,nice start,well done to simon..

Is run and owned by himself is in the heart of kilrickle village,just 7 minutes from loughrea on the N6 galway/dublin road.  

This is a fully licensed bar . There's a relaxed atmosphere among the mahogony wood which predominates the bar and lounge. Service is friendly [when deesie is off] . This bright and airy pub provides a convivial atmosphere for those who enjoy the art of conversation. Despite the modern comfortable surroundings this pub has retained at least some of the vestiges of times past.OBriens serve a fine selection of beers, their Guinness is second to none and their service is of the highest standards. desses has proven to be very popular with tourist, students and discerning locals and is always packed to the rafters at the weekend.  

 

OBriens has retained its character by not changing its essential design, its still looks pretty much the same as it was fifty years ago. There is no loud music, much bubbling conversation and a very friendly clientele.  

What could be nicer?.tea/coffee /sandwiches served all day, 7 days a week. Function Room available for private parties. Sky Sports,setanta,red hot dutch,PPV Games also available. 

With a lot of interest in golf the society was set up in 2000,and is very successful since.The 40/50 society members are from the surrounding parishes and are mostly members in loughrea,portumna,ballinasloe and curra west golf clubs.
